Intro To Fashion: Project
BILL CUNNINGHAM MIDTERM
DENIM: IT'S IN OUR GENES
One of fashions oldest classics, the jeans have been hitting not only the runway, but also the sidewalk. And although they are usually in the form of pants, denim has been used to make an array of fashion items. For this project I found most of my subjects at my local thrift store. A mecca for everything unusual, the thrift store was the perfect place for me to find the many different avenues denim has taken.

The picture on top is of an elderly woman who's denim skirt had to be documented. Although denim skirts may be out of style, she didn't mind one bit.
And the picture to the left of an acid washed denim jacket is an example of an oldie but a goodie.
Who said denim always had to be blue? I found this number while browsing the aisles of Savers, an emerald green denim jacket.

I found a kids wearing a canvas shirt but I saw that his collar was denim. A nice way to mix textiles.
Personally when I think of denim vests I think of the 80's, but this lady is bringing it back all by herself.

I took this picture honestly because I thought that the shirt was really cute, it just happened that he had it paired with some nice dark jeans. They were a little worn but with jeans you can mix classy pieces with worn ones.
This shirt was all denim, its just that it was dyes different colors. Like the previous picture the collar was kept in a classic blue.

These denim shorts were paired with the shirt to the top right. Who said you can layer denim on denim?
This girl wore her striped denim overalls a little baggy but it worked out. Too bad her top wasn't as cute.

The best thing about denim is that the older it gets, the better it looks. The distressed or ripped look is always popular and probably will stay forever.
In closing, denim is a classic and probably will stay that way for a long time. It is appropriate for all ages, from the elderly to the young. Whether you are going to a ball game or to a party, jeans are always a staple go to clothing option. And with the options being unlimited with everything from clothes to accessories, denim will be here for a while.
